BridgeText is an experiment in artistic and narrative production. It is also an experiment in publishing. The basic idea is to promote work that is built on strong writing but pushes the integration of text-and-image in new directions, especially where graphic fiction and movie-making are concerned ("movie-making" here referring to no-budget, sole creator videos).
At the heart of BridgeText is a massive project entitled PLASTIC MILLENNIUM. This project is ongoing and incorporates an ever-expanding amount of work. It has taken over twenty-five years to reach this stage of completion; it is not the result of a hobby.
PLASTIC MILLENNIUM is divided into modules, and can be conceived of either a mega-novel with three other novels and nine poetry/short story collections attached, or as a set of twenty-two publishable image-and-text volumes. Both versions exist alongside seven book-length collections of movies. The project encompasses approximately 600,000 words, 1,000 drawings, 500 original photos, 150 movies (ranging from shorts to features), and more than 30 original songs. However the project is arranged, it is massive -- massive in scope, massive in ambition.
What I'm presenting here is the title I am starting to show around to various readers, TRUTH MARATHON. It is a novel that lies at the heart of the mega-novel PLASTIC MILLENNIUM. But it can also detach and stand on its own. I am also presenting a few samples from the latter. Finally, I am presenting videos from THE BARAM SERIES -- a grouping of "authorial movies" that work as poems and work as experimental videos.

plastic millennium
A novel about tech change, a novel about social change. A novel about a family, a war, and a world out of control.

truth marathon
Paul Gunnarsen is a typical twenty-first century Everyperson: his job is stressful and underpaid, his family life is chronically complex, and his love life is, as they say, interesting -- so passionate it makes up for all the rest, but so unpredictable that he never knows where he stands with his new girlfriend from one day to the next. On top of this, his father -- a paranoid schizophrenic -- thinks he can explain it all, from Pearl Harbor to 9/11. It all seems too much ... yet it turns out, it is all connected.
